Political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Latvia and Kosovo took place in Riga on 5 June 2023. They were chaired by the State Secretary of Latvia, Andris Pelšs, and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kosovo, Kreshnik Ahmeti. The talks assessed the cooperation between the two countries to date and the possibilities to deepen it in the future.

One of the topics of the talks was Kosovo's integration into the European Union and other international organisations. Andris Pelšs expressed support for the European perspective of Kosovo and the other Western Balkan countries and confirmed his readiness to continue sharing Latvia's EU integration experience with Kosovo. He also underlined that the individual achievements of the countries and their fulfilment of the benchmarks would be assessed.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kosovo, Kreshnik Ahmeti, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity for Kosovo representatives to attend the Intensive Programme in European Law and Economics at the Riga Graduate School of Law and expressed his interest in continuing this cooperation project.

Kosovo briefed on the current situation in the north of Kosovo. Andris Pelšs confirmed Latvia's readiness to contribute to the security of Kosovo and the region by participating in the NATO Mission in Kosovo (Kosovo Force (KFRO)), and stressed the need to reduce tensions and seek a long-term solution within the framework of the EU-facilitated Belgrade-Pristina dialogue.

On issues related to Russian aggression in Ukraine, Andris Pelšs welcomed Kosovo's alignment with EU statements and sanctions against Russia.
