Latvijas un Togo ārlietu ministri vienojas padziļināt ekonomisko sadarību

On 18 February 2023, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Latvia, Edgars Rinkēvičs, met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Togo, Robert Dussey, on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference.

During the meeting, Edgars Rinkēvičs underlined the need to bring Russia to account for its aggression against Ukraine and called on Togo to support a resolution proposed by the United Nations General Assembly on “Principles underlying a comprehensive, just and lasting peace in Ukraine”.

The Foreign Ministers also discussed developments in the Sahel and the security situation in Mali. The Latvian Foreign Minister informed his counterpart of Latvia’s candidacy for a seat on the United Nations Security Council and invited Togo to support it. Edgars Rinkēvičs also pointed out that Latvia was prepared to tune in to and cooperate on issues important for African countries.

At the same time, the Foreign Ministers expressed mutual interest in developing a political dialogue and expanding business cooperation between Latvia and Togo. The Ministers agreed on the need to arrange political consultations and organise meetings between business delegations.
