On 27 March 2024, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Latvia, Solvita Āboltiņa, submitted her letter of credence to His Majesty the King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands.

During the accreditation ceremony, the political and economic relations between the two countries were discussed. Latvia and the Netherlands are like-minded countries and close partners in the EU and NATO.

It was recognised that Latvia and the Netherlands have good prospects for cooperation in the areas of modern technologies and renewable energy. Latvia and the Netherlands are strong advocates of the rule of law, and both countries are concerned about the international legal order. To ensure security in Europe and worldwide, it is vital to continue providing all forms of assistance, both military and humanitarian, to Ukraine in its fight against Russia’s aggression. 

During the conversation, Ambassador Solvita Āboltiņa praised current cooperation in the field of education, expressing satisfaction with the high interest of Latvian students in studying at the Netherlands universities.
