The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is the co-ordinating institution the country's foreign policy, with one of the foreign policy priorities being promoting Latvia’s economic and trade interests.

Body responsible for these issues in the Ministry is Economic Relations, Trade and Development Cooperation Directorate consisting of Economic Relations and Development Cooperation Policy Department and Foreign Trade and Foreign Economic Relations Promotion Department.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs is responsible for promotion of bilateral and multilateral (EU Trade policy, WTO, OECD) economic relations as well as development policy.
