Operation of Rīga International Airport during NATO Summit
NATO Summit Latvia Task Force would like to inform all Latvia's inhabitants and guests, who plan to travel through Riga International Airport during NATO Summit days, about the operation procedures of the airport from November 27 to November 29.
Incoming and outgoing flights
On November 27 no changes of departures and arrivals of the flights are planned. Passengers who will take night flights (from November 27 to 28 till 1:30 AM) will also depart and arrive in accordance with the usual procedure.
On November 28 and 29 no cancellation of regular seasonal flights is planned but there is a possibility of change in the flight departure and arrival schedule. More information will follow later. Charter flights are not scheduled during these days.
From November 28 to 29 all airport passengers must arrive at the airport 3 hours prior to the departure time of their flight. When coming to airport passengers have to take their passport and flight ticket or printout of their flight reservation, in case the ticket is bought on the internet.
On November 28 and November 29 no cargo flights will be scheduled and it will not be possible to ship or withdraw cargo from the airport during NATO Summit days.
Getting to the airport and back
There are no changes planned in the traffic routes from the city center to Riga International Airport on November 27. Passengers will be able to get to the airport as usual - by public or private transport.
On November 28 and November 29 access to the Riga International Airport will be forbidden for private transport. The meeting point for airport passengers will be in Riga International Bus Terminal, at 1 Prāgas Street in Riga, where there will be an airport transfer provided to all airport passengers by public transport - bus number 22.
The passengers who arrive during November 28 – 29 will be taken from the airport territory to Riga International Bus Terminal by bus number 22. It will run with stops on the route. The bus route will be published in the mass media.
Welcoming and seeing off passengers
Starting from November 27 persons who see off and welcome somebody at the airport will have to take along their personal identification documents.
No changes are planned for November 27 - everybody will be allowed to see off friends and relatives, including those departing and arriving at night on November 28 until 1:30 AM.
It will not be possible to see off and welcome those passengers who will depart and arrive at the Riga International Airport on November 28 and November 29. The arriving passengers will be taken to Riga International Bus Terminal, at 1 Prāgas street. The departing passengers will be also taken from Riga International Bus Terminal to the airport by bus number 22.
As an exception, it will be allowed to accompany under-aged children, persons with obvious disability and elderly people. One accompanying person for each of the abovementioned passengers will be allowed to follow to the airport. Persons who accompany passengers have to take along their passports or other personal identification document.
One person will be allowed to arrive at the Riga International Airport, in order to meet also those under-aged children who will arrive not accompanied by their parents, They will be allowed to go to the airport by bus number 22, and have to take along the passport and provide information on child's arrival flight, name, surname at the security check-point.
Starting from November 27 no parking will be allowed for passengers in the long-term car park at Riga International Airport, but they still have the opportunity to use a short-term parking lot.
On November 28 and November 29 parking lots near Riga International Airport will be closed.
