On 3 April 2007, the Latvian Ambassador to Russia, Andris Teikmanis, hosted an official reception for the organizational team of the festival Golden Mask, the actors of the New Riga Theatre, theatre critics, and for media representatives. In his opening address to the guests, Ambassador Teikmanis and the President of the Festival Golden Mask, Georgiy Taratorkin, emphasized the role of the festival in cultural co-operation between both countries and noted the opportunity to follow and to compare theatre life in Russia and Latvia.
This year the play Long Life, directed by Alvis Hermanis, won the award of the prestigious Russian Theatre Festival Golden Mask in the category The Best Foreign Act. The awards ceremony will be held on 14 April in the Stanislavski and Nemirovich-Danchenko Moscow Musical Theatre.
On 3-4 April, the public in Moscow will have the opportunity to see Long Life on the stage of the Mossovet Theatre.
