A Latvian conductor, Andris Nelsons and the Boston Symphony Orchestra won a Grammy

On February 15th, The Boston Symphony Orchestra and its musical director Andris Nelsons who is from Latvia won a Grammy. The BSO won the best orchestral performance prize for "Shostakovich - Under Stalin's Shadow - Symphony No. 10" — music that sprang from the terror and turbulence of Joseph Stalin's Soviet dictatorship. The award is the BSO’s seventh Grammy (eighth including a 1966 win for the Boston Symphony Chamber Players), and Nelsons’s first.
