As part of the Global Film Week programme and supported by the Korea Foundation, Latvian Film Days are held in Seoul on 15, 22, and 29 May with the screening of films titled “Guards of Riga”, “Dream Team 1935” and “Grandfather More Dangerous Than a Computer”.
The full-length features selected for the programme cover events during the Latvian War of Independence in 1919 and tell the story of the Latvian national team that won the first European basketball championship, as well as reflecting, in a family comedy, on the relationship between several generations.
The Film Days event was unveiled on 15 May with an address from Ambassador Pēteris Vaivars and a lecture on the history of Latvia to help the audience better understand the events pictured in the films.
Participation in the Film Week is one of the activities held with the aim of promoting the diversity of Latvian cinema and raising awareness of the country’s history and values as part of the Latvian Centenary Public Diplomacy Programme coordinated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
