Latvia makes a debut at the Busan International Seafood & Fisheries Expo

From 31 October to 2 November, Latvia was taking part for the first time at the Busan International Seafood & Fisheries EXPO, Korea. The national stand was organised by the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia (LIAA) with support from the Embassy of Latvia in the Republic of Korea. Three companies displayed their products on the Latvian stand: PERUZA, a manufacturer of seafood processing equipment, and two fish processing companies, BANGA and FROZEN FOOD (the Amberfish brand).

The Busan International Seafood & Fisheries Expo is one of the leading professional fisheries fairs in Asia. At this year’s exhibition, 1075 booths were presented, including 25 national stands from all continents.
The Ambassador of Latvia to the Republic of Korea, Pēteris Vaivars, attended the launch of the exhibition and opened the Latvian stand on the first day of the event.

As part of his stay in Busan, the second largest Korean city, the Ambassador also visited the Busan City Council, where he was welcomed by Vice Mayor JUNG Hyun-min, and the Busan Economic Promotion Agency, where he met with its CEO – President PARK Ki-sik. Ambassador Vaivars also visited the Busan Chapter of the European Chamber of Commerce in Korea and two companies working in the shipbuilding sector – Samsung Heavy Industries and Hankuk Carbon, which use Latvian products in their manufacturing process.

Given the Korean partners’ interest, the Embassy invites Latvian businesses to participate actively in exhibitions currently held in the food and other sectors in Korea. Information about them is available on LIAA’s export portal at and the Korean database of exhibitions and fairs at

The Embassy offers its thanks to the LIAA Export Promotion Division for organising, in a highly professional manner, the participation of Latvia in the exhibition.
