Latvian animation film on the adventures of a boys’ choir in Seoul offered for appreciation of Korean audiences

On 19 May, Seoul hosted the opening of the 4th European Short Film Festival. Latvia is represented at the festival with an animated short by the film director, Edmunds Jansons, entitled “Choir Tour” and telling a story of the adventures of a boys’ choir in Seoul. The opening ceremony was attended by European Ambassadors posted to Korea including the Ambassador of Latvia to Korea, H.E. Pēteris Vaivars and his wife.

At the launch of the event in Seongbuk District of Seoul, the Mayor of the municipality, Kim Young-bae, said he was happy about the popularity of the film festival which is now taking place for the fourth time and offers shows in two film centres in Seoul – “Arirang Cine Center”and “KU Cinema Trap”at Korea University.

The theme of this year’s festival is “My Dear Family”. The Latvian animated short film will be screened together with other five European short films in a special series entitled “We Are Family”. The first show of the six took place on 20 May.

The festival is under way from 19 to 29 May and is organised by the municipality of Songbuk District in Seoul in association with the Korean film industries.
