The State visit of the President of the Republic of Latvia and Mrs Lilita Zatlere to the Republic of Croatia started on September 3 after an invitation from the President of the Republic of Croatia H.E. Stjepan Mesić. It is the first visit of the President of Latvia to Croatia.
Today on September 4 President is meeting the President of the Republic of Croatia H.E. Stjepan Mesić, President of the Croatian Parliament Mr Luka Bebić and the Lord Mayor of Zagreb Mr Milan Bandić. He will also meet the Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia Mr Ivo Sanader and visit the National and University Library. The President is accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs H.E. Mr Māris Riekstiņš, Minister of Culture, Ms Helēna Demakova, Minister of Transport, Mr Ainārs Šlesers, and Minister of Economics, Mr Kaspars Gerhards. During the visit ministers will meet their Croatian counterparts.
The Ambassador of the Republic of Latvia in the Republic of Croatia H.E. Argita Daudze will host a reception on the occasion of the visit of the President of the Republic of Latvia and Mrs Lilita Zatlere tomorrow on September 5 in Zagreb art museum Mimara. It will be attended by the President of the Republic of Croatia, other Croatian officials and representatives of Croatian diplomatic corps. During the reception the guests will have the opportunity to enjoy a musical performance of Latvian folk-music band"Iļģi" and see an exhibition "One Day in Latvia". Meanwhile another exhibition "When Many Become One" will be open to visitors in Zagreb National and University Library from September 5 to September 20.
The President and Mrs Zatlere are accompanied also by a business delegation who is participating in business forums in Zagreb and Opatija organized by Investment and Development Agency of Latvia. Latvian entrepreneurs will have the opportunity to explore the Croatian business environment and meet Croatian entrepreneurs.
Tomorrow on September 5 in Rijeka shipyard "3. Maj" the President and Latvian delegation will take part in the launching ceremony of Latvian tanker "Ainaži", which is the last of ten tankers. The state visit will conclude on September 6.
