On December 1, 2019, an event “The True Life is as Big the World and as High as the Sky: A Commemorative Reading from the Writings of Prof. Radagast Parolek” took place at the Latvian Cultural Center at the Embassy of the Republic of Latvia in the Czech Republic. Professor Radagast Parolek was an eminent Czech researcher and university teacher in the field of Baltistics.

Both former professor’s students and his relatives recalled him, thus discovering new facts about his experiences connected to his love for Latvia. The attendats listened to the audio recording where professor Parolek recounted how challenging the restoration of Baltic studies was, and enjoyed the Czech actor Martin Severýn’s reading of the Latvian literature which was translated by the professor.
Professor Radagast Parolek, who passed away on September 15, 2019, was a literary scholar awarded by the Order of the Three Stars, Third Class, in 1997.
