On 6 and 7 October 2018, in the framework of a theatre festival “Prague Crossroads”, the New Riga Theatre’s performance “BRODSKY / BARYSHNIKOV“ was introduced to Czech spectators in the Estates Theatre in Prague. Production of Latvian director Alvis Hermanis, in which the legendary artist Mikhail Baryshnikov via dramatic performance interprets poetry of the Nobel Prize awarded poet Josif Brodsky, was received enthusiastically. The international festival “Prague Crossroads” is devoted to the former Czech president and playwright Václav Havel.
After the performance Deputy Head of Mission of the Embassy of the Republic of Latvia to the Czech Republic Rūta Radiņa, expressed her gratitude to Mr. Baryshnikov, to the New Riga Theatre and to organisers for an unforgettable performance as well as for the possibility to show to Czech audience such an outstanding, emotional performance created in Latvia, a month ahead of the Centennial of the Republic of Latvia.
The performance “BRODSKY / BARYSHNIKOV“ in Prague is part of the Latvian Public Diplomacy Centennial programme.
