On April 6 the Embassy of the Republic of Latvia in cooperation with the film festival “Days of European Film” organised a Latvian film evening in the Prague historical cinema Lucerna. The director Varis Brasla’s Grandpa more dangerous than computer and director Renārs Vimba’s film Mellow Mud were screened. V. Brasla’s film lead actor Mārtiņš Vilsons and the actress Alise Polačenko took part in the event and met with spectators. A plenty of members of the diplomatic corp visited the event too. The Embassy of the Republic of Latvia maintains contact with the festival, supported by other European Embassies and cultural institutes, for several years already. Last year the film Chronicles of Melanie was presented to Czech auditoria at the festival and for the next year two films devoted to Latvia’s Centenary (Bille directed by Ināra Kolmane Mērija’s Journey directed by Kristīne Želve), shot in cooperation with Czech cinema partners, are intended to be screened.
The event is a part of the Latvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Centennial programme.
