On 13 September in the Old Town Square City Hall an opening of the exibition of prominent Baltic photographs called The Best of Lithuanian and Latvian Photography, organised by the president of Czech Federation of Art Photography Garik Avanesian, took place.

Latvian master Gunārs Binde is presented by his classical photograps Nude, which has stood the test of time, and his already legendary cycle Flying women. G. Binde expressed his cordial relation towards Czechia by stressing the importance of Czech photography to him – his first abroad-published photos, taken in years 1959–1963, were shown in the Prague intelectual journal Photograph. Lithuanian photo art is present in the photographs of famous Lithuanian photographers Antanas Sutkus, Romualdas Požerskis, Aleksandras Macijauskas, Romualdas Rakauskas and Virgilijus Šonta, who have throughout their whole creative life been in touch with their Latvian colleagues. R. Požerskis at the opening event stressed: „My teachers’ and my compatriots’ works, but particulary my teacher Gunārs Binde’s mastery is presented here.

Gunārs Binde himself took part in the opening event and the whole event was supported by the Embassy of the Republic of Latvia in the Czech Republic.
