Latvian Embassy in Prague pays tribute to the victims of nazism in Lidice and Ležáky

The Ambassador of Latvia, Alberts Sarkanis, on June 12 in Lidice and the deputy head of the Embassy, Rūta Radiņa, on June 26 in Ležáky contributed to the Wreath Laying Ceremonies paying tribute to the victims of nazism. As these two villages were completely erased from existence in 1942 and all of their inhabitants were shot dead, interred in camps or, in case of some of the children, sent to Germany for Aryanisation, Lidice and Ležáky are a dark spot in Czech history.

Representatives of the Czech Republic, diplomatic corps and relatives of the victims took part in the events.
