The Platform of European Memory and Conscience is to be signed in Prague

On the 13th and 14th of October the Latvian Embassy in Prague will participate in events dedicated to the The Platform of European Memory and Conscience (hereinafter - the platform), start-up. The platform aims at creating a European totalitarian research institute in a joint co-operative format, which will promote a common understanding of totalitarianism and creation of the memory space in Europe. The platform is designed based on 2 April 2009 European Parliament resolution on European conscience and totalitarianism.
At the time of the events, this year on October 14, in the Liechtenstein Palace in Prague, 19 organizations from 13 European Union Member States will sign the statute establishing the platform. From the Latvian side, the statute establishing the sign of the Latvin Occupation Museum Direcor Gundega Michele and the Latvian Occupation Researvh Society Advisory Council and the head of the European Parliament Inese Vaidere. The Czech Prime Minister Petr Nečas will take part in the signing ceremony.
