On January 27th and 28th a concert of the Latvian composer Pēteris Plakidis was held in the Philharmonic Concert Hall in Brno, the second largest city in the Czech Republic. Embassy of the Republic of Latvia in the Czech Republic supported the organization of this happening.
The Latvian ambassador to the Czech Republic Mr. Kaspars Ozoliņš attended the concert, met the composer and pianist Pēteris Plakidis, as well as the artistic director of the Philharmonic Orchestra Brno and the director of "Ensemble Opera Diversa", with whom he discussed future plans and possibilities of further cooperation.
At the concert the young mezzosoprano Lucie Hilscherova sang a three-part piece by Plakidis "Songs for the Wind and Blood" (the original Latvian title is "Dziesmas vējam un asinīm") in Latvian language. The concert concluded with a piece for piano, string orchestra and timpāni and the author himself played the piano.
Not only the audience was delighted by the concert, but the music critics as well. In his review the acclaimed Czech music critic Vladimír Čech expressed his positive impression about Plakidis’ first concert in Brno, he literally provoked the listeners not to be lazy and not to miss the second concert by Plakidis.
