On 13th January 2021 Ambassador of Latvia, Kārlis Eihenbaums and Mrs. Ināra Eihenbauma took part in a silent commemorative event on the Parliament Hill in Ottawa.

The ceremony included the forget-me-not flowers as a symbol of the gift of freedom and sacrifice. The forget-me-not flower symbolises everlasting tribute and gratitude to all victims.

The marking of the 30th anniversary of Freedom Defenders' Day in Lithuania is honouring the memory of the victims of Soviet military aggression in Vilnius in 1991, when assault on Vilnius TV Tower and Lithuanian Radio and Television resulted in the death of 14 civilians and very many injured.
