On 20 September 2018 the Balts Unity Day was celebrated on the Parliament Hill in Ottawa. The members of the Latvian, Lithuanian, Estonian and Polish Embassies and local communities came together to celebrate the friendship, solidarity and mutual support. The traditional gathering on the Hill was attended by Jamie Schmale, MP, Chairman of the Canada-Nordic-Baltic Parliamentary Friendship Group, and group of Members of Parliament, representatives of Government of Canada from Global Affairs, Department of National Defence and the Privy Council Office.
The Balts Unity Day tradition was launched in 2016 by the Embassy of Latvia in Canada. Thank you to Ināra Eihenbauma for this idea to bring people together.
