On 6-7 December 2019, the Parliamentary Secretary of the Latvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Zanda Kalniņa-Lukaševica, will stay in Dublin, where she will take part in the end-of-the-year meeting of the diaspora organised by the Embassy of Latvia in Ireland and visit the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Ireland.
At the Embassy of Latvia in Ireland, the Parliamentary Secretary will meet with members of the diaspora to update them on latest developments in diaspora policy and answer questions on topics of their interest.
In a meeting with officials from the Irish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Zanda Kalniņa-Lukaševica will discuss the experience of Latvia and Ireland in diaspora policy and gain an insight into the activities of the Global Irish Network. It is a cooperation format that involves more than 300 professionals – members of the Irish diaspora – coming from diverse fields and based in 40 countries, who cooperate closely with the Government and state agencies to provide them with valuable international expertise and promote Ireland’s economic, cultural and tourism messages in key markets.
The Parliamentary Secretary is also planning to make a visit to the border between the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.
