Latvian Ambassador presents his credentials to Prime Minister and Vice President of the United Arab Emirates

On 12 November 2019, the Ambassador of Latvia, Atis Sjanīts, presented his letter of credence to the Prime Minister and Vice President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Ruler of Dubai, Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The ceremony was attended by government ministers.

In his address, the Ambassador conveyed greetings from the President of Latvia Egils Levits and underlined that the relationship between the two countries has good potential for growth.

The principal task of the Latvian Embassy in the UAE is to strengthen the political dialogue and bilateral cooperation in economy and culture with UAE and other Gulf States.

Atis Sjanīts is the second Ambassador of Latvia to the UAE. Prior to his posting, he had been serving as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Turkey, Ukraine, Canada, and Lithuania, as well as non-resident Ambassador to Moldova and Iran, as well as with the Holy See and the Sovereign Order of Malta. Atis Sjanīts began working for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1992 in the Legal Department.
