State Secretary Andris Pelšs and the Ambassador of Montenegro to Latvia discuss opportunities for bilateral cooperation

On 14 October 2019, the State Secretary of the Latvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Andris Pelšs, met with the Ambassador-designate of Montenegro to Latvia, Budimir Šegrt, who had arrived on an accreditation visit. The State Secretary and the Ambassador discussed bilateral relations and cooperation as well as the process of Montenegro’s integration with the European Union (EU).

The State Secretary took note of the good relationship between the two countries and thanked Montenegro for its contribution to the NATO battle group, which has been strengthening security in Latvia and across the region. The State Secretary expressed support for the further integration of Montenegro with the EU and confirmed that Latvia is open to sharing its experience of that process.  State Secretary Pelšs and Ambassador Šegrt agreed that the political dialogue and business cooperation should continue, especially in fields with high value added.

On 15 October, the Ambassador will present his credentials to the President of Latvia, Egils Levits. Ambassador Šegrt resides in Warsaw, Poland.
