Working visit of the Foreign Minister of Finland to Latvia

On 30 July, Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkēvičs will be meeting the Foreign Minister of Finland, Pekka Haavisto, who will be in Riga for a one-day working visit.

The Foreign Ministers will discuss the current information concerning the tanker “Stena Impero” which was seized on 19 July in the Strait of Hormuz by Iranian forces. They will also discuss coordination and the way forward with view to the eventual freeing of the tanker and crew including the Latvian national who was on board when the vessel was seized. Discussions will also touch on Latvian-Finnish bilateral relations, priorities of the Finnish EU Presidency, regional cooperation, and key issues of international affairs.

During his visit, the Finnish Foreign Minister will meet with the President of Latvia, Egils Levits, and he will pay a visit to the NATO Centre of Excellence for Strategic Communications.
