On 15 July 2019, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Edgars Rinkēvičs, will participate in the meeting of the European Union (EU) Foreign Affairs Council in Brussels.
At the Council, foreign ministers intend to discuss Iran’s role in the region and the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action. They will also take stock of the political situation in Iraq and discuss developments in the Central African Republic.
The ministers will then meet with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of Moldova, Nicolae Popescu, to exchange views on developments in the country following the parliamentary elections held on 24 February 2019.
The meetings of the Foreign Affairs Council are held on a monthly basis, and they are chaired by the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Policy and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini.
