On 16 May 2019, the Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Zanda Kalniņa-Lukaševica, will take part in the meeting of the European Union (EU) Foreign Affairs Council (Development).
The Council will share opinions on the United Nations (UN) 2030 agenda for sustainable development, or 2030 Agenda, and the implementation of the Paris Agreement on climate change ahead of the UN high level political forum and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Summit this coming September. The Member State representatives will also discuss the role of young people as key actors in realising the goals of the 2030 Agenda.
Following the session of EU Foreign Affairs Council on the political situation in the Sahel, the participants will discuss how to step up the EU engagement in the region.
The meeting will also feature an exchange of views on recent development in the talks on financing for EU external action under the EU Multiannual Financial Framework for 2021–2027.
