On 9 November 2018, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Edgars Rinkēvičs, welcomed an introductory visit from the Ambassador-designate of the Kingdom of Spain to Latvia, Susana Margarita Cámara Angulo.
At the start of their conversation, Edgars Rinkēvičs congratulated the Ambassador on assuming her post and stated his readiness to develop political dialogue at all levels. The Minister thanked Spain for its significant contribution to the strengthening of security of the Baltic States; he made special mention of the participation of Spanish soldiers in NATO’s enhanced Forward Presence battle group in Latvia.
Referring to the active relationship between Latvia and Spain, the parties discussed opportunities for promoting bilateral cooperation in economy, trade in particular. The Minister and the Ambassador shared views about topics on the EU agenda and current security policy issues.
During the meeting, the Ambassador presented copies of her credentials to the Minister of Foreign Affairs. Ambassador Cámara Angulo’s accreditation visit to the President of Latvia, Raimonds Vējonis, has been scheduled for 21 November,
Susana Margarita Cámara Angulo began her career with the Foreign Service in 1998. Prior to her appointment as Ambassador to Latvia, she was Head of the State Secretary’s Office at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Some of her earlier postings were to Spanish diplomatic missions in Baghdad, Geneva, Paris, and Tel Aviv.
