Foreign Minister thanks the Spanish Ambassador for his contribution to strengthening bilateral relations

On 4 October 2018, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Edgars Rinkēvičs, welcomed a farewell visit from the Ambassador of the Republic of the Kingdom of Spain to Latvia, Pedro Miguel Jiménez Nácher.

At the meeting, the Minister expressed appreciation of the active political dialogue between Latvia and Spain and thanked the Ambassador for his contribution to the strengthening of cooperation between both countries. The Minister and the Ambassador praised the exchange of visits and the level of mutual support when cooperating in international organisations.

Edgars Rinkēvičs thanked Spain for its contribution to the enhancement of security in the region, and underlined in particular the participation of Spanish troops in the NATO multinational battle group in Latvia. As the officials noted the dynamic relationship between Latvia and Spain, they were unanimous that there was great potential for continued cooperation to coordinate opinions on matters of high importance for the EU and NATO.

Background information

Pedro Miguel Jiménez Nácher joined the Foreign Service in 1987. Prior to his posting as Ambassador to Latvia in September 2014, Jiménez Nácher served as the Consul General of Spain in Nador, Morocco.
