Information to be provided on the 13th Saeima Elections in Latvia and abroad

On 1 October 2018 at 11.00, the Ministry of Foreign affairs and the Central Election Commission will hold a press conference “The 13th Saeima Elections in Latvia and Abroad”, with participation of Guna Japiņa, Director of the Consular Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Arnis Cimdars, Chairman of the Central Election Commission.

The press conference will provide information on preparations for the 13th Saeima elections in Latvia and in foreign countries, while reminding voters of the most important points they have to bear in mind when taking part in elections. Possibilities for the media to observe elections and the counting of votes in polling stations will also be outlined, as well as procedures for summarising and publishing the election results.

Information from the Central Election Commission

The 13th Saeima Elections will be held on Saturday, 6 October, in 954 polling stations in Latvia and in 121 polling stations in 45 countries. Polling stations are open to voters from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. local time.

The polling stations begin working in stand-by mode on 1 October and, throughout the week before elections, voters will be able to acquaint themselves with pre-election programmes, candidate lists, information on candidates, and election procedures.
