President of Latvia presents the credentials to the Ambassador of Latvia to Denmark, Alda Vanaga

On 31 July 2018 the President of Latvia Raimonds Vējonis presented credentials to the new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Latvia to the Kingdom of Denmark, Alda Vanaga, at the ceremony in Riga Castle. She has received a Master's degree in Law from the University of Latvia and currently holds the position of Under Secretary of State–Administrative Director at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Alda Vanaga began working for the Foreign Service in 1992 at the Consular Department – she has been Senior Desk Officer, Head of the Consular Legal Department and later, also Director of the Consular Department. In the EU Coordination Department, Alda Vanaga was heading the Coreper II Preparatory Unit (COREPER II), and from 2004 to 2006 – the EU Coordination Department. Subsequently, she served as Deputy State Secretary for Legal and Consular Affairs, and till 2011 she was performing the duties of Head of the Legal and Consular Directorate. In the period from 2015 to 2016, Alda Vanaga was an Ambassador-at-Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Alda Vanaga has been posted to the Latvian Embassy in Germany. From 2011 to 2015, she was the Ambassador of Latvia to the Portuguese Republic and is a non-resident Ambassador to the Federative Republic of Brazil.
