First Latvian Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia expressed readiness to facilitate cooperation between both countries

On 5 March, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Latvia to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Astra Kurme, presented her credentials to His Majesty King of Saudi Arabia Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, who is also Prime Minister. In her address, the Ambassador forwarded greetings from the President of Latvia, Raimonds Vējonis, to His Majesty.

In a meeting with Azam bin Abdulkarim Alqin, the Deputy State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Ambassador emphasised that the relationship between both countries holds potential for a rapid growth that could contribute considerably to many areas, for instance, trade and investments.    

Ambassador Astra Kurme confirmed that she was prepared to enhance the political dialogue, bilateral cooperation in business and culture, as well as promoting cooperation between the Gulf States and the Baltic States.

Background information

Astra Kurme is the first non-resident Ambassador of Latvia to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Ambassador resides in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates.
