Amendments to the Agreement between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania on mutual representation in the issuance of visas is coming into effect as of 1 February 2018.
Pursuant to the amendments, the Republic of Lithuania will issue short-stay visas on behalf of Latvia in Dublin, the Republic of Ireland. Issuing of visas under a representation arrangement will make it easier to obtain Schengen visas for travel to Latvia, because until now those travelling from Ireland had to apply for their visas at the Latvian Embassy in the United Kingdom.
Latvia has signed representation agreements with 14 Schengen member countries, which issue Schengen visas for travel to Latvia in 94 different locations across the world. Latvia in turn represents twelve Schengen countries at ten different locations.
