On 15 July, Edgars Rinkēvičs went to the Embassy of the French Republic in Riga to personally convey his deepest condolences and assurances of solidarity to H.E. Stéphane Visconti, France’s Ambassador to Latvia, in connection with the act of terror committed yesterday in Nice.

In the Book of Condolences opened in memory of the victims of the barbaric terrorist attack in Nice, Edgars Rinkēvičs wrote to the people of France. He said:

Speaking for myself and on behalf of the people of Latvia, I offer deepest condolences to the people of France and to those who are close to victims of the ghastly act of terror in Nice. As we mourn lives lost, our thoughts also go out to those who were injured and survived, that they may get well soon. We stand in solidarity with our friend and Ally - France – in the fight against evil and in defending our common values!
