Latvia establishes diplomatic relations with Palau

Joint Communiqué on establishing diplomatic relations between both countries was signed, on behalf of Latvia, by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Permanent Representative to the UN in New York, Jānis Mažeiks, and, on behalf of Palau, by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Permanent Representative to the UN in New York, Caleb Otto.

The Ambassadors of both countries expressed satisfaction at the establishing of diplomatic relations that will promote cooperation at bilateral level as well as already established cooperation in the framework of international organizations. The Ambassadors discussed the situation in the Pacific region after the devastating consequences of the Cyclone Pam, issues on the UN agenda, as well as the priorities of Latvia’s Presidency at the Council of the EU.
