On 28 September, in celebration of the 100 Years Anniversary of the Republic of Latvia H.E. Ambassador Aivars Groza and Mrs. Sandra Groza hosted a reception in New Delhi which at the same time was his farewell reception as Ambassador of Latvia to India. Indian officials, diplomatic corps, as well as the Embassy’s partners from business and culture sectors, along with the Latvian diaspora in India attended the event.
While addressing the audience, Ambassador Groza noted that Latvia welcomes its Centenary as a prospering and developed state, a member of the European Union, NATO, OECD and the euro zone. He was delighted that he completes his posting with a well-established and functioning Latvian Embassy in New Delhi which has led to an increased political, economic and cultural cooperation between Latvia and India. He in particular highlighted the visit of the Prime Minister of Latvia Mr. Maris Kucinskis to India in November 2017 and the Liepaja Symphonic Orchestra tour in India in honour of the 100 Years Anniversary of the Republic of Latvia, which is being organized in cooperation with the renowned Indian musician Dr.L.Subramaniam. Ambassador was confident that this positive trend in relations between both States will continue in future as well.
At the end of his speech, Ambassador Groza presented a Prime Minister of Latvia Award of Merits to Mr. N.Ramachandran, Honorary Consul of Latvia in India.
Mr. N.Ramachandran is the Honorary Consul of Latvia in Chennai with the consular district in the States of Tamil Nadu and Kerala since 2009. During his tenure of office he has significantly promoted political and economic ties between Latvia and India. He has also extensively supported the interests and rights of Latvian nationals in India.
