THE CENTENARY OF THE INTERNATIONAL RECOGNITION OF LATVIA
In 2021, the Republic of Latvia is celebrating the 100th anniversary of the international recognition de iure. A hundred years ago, on 26 January 1921 in Paris, following determined efforts of Latvian diplomats, five “Entente” states – Japan, Belgium, France, Great Britain and Italy, granted international recognition de iure to Latvia that is permanent and irrevocable. Honouring this nationally and historically important milestone, a hundred years of friendship is being celebrated also between Latvia and Japan.
