On 16 November 2019, the 101st Anniversary of the Proclamation of the Republic of Latvia was celebrated in Holsted. The event was organized by the Latvian-Danish Society and featured songs by the choir "Rietumvējš", a folk dance performance, and a special musical greeting from the band "Credo". Ambassador Alda Vanaga and the head of the society Raivis Orba addressed the audience. More than 200 guests attended the celebration, including many families with children. During the event, the visitors could take part in joint activities, one of which was to find people from the same Latvian region and sing a song that was specific to that particular area. The guests also had the opportunity to taste cakes baked in honour of each region of Latvia, including a cake for the capital Riga. The event was festive and cheerful, and the songs and dances with the band "Credo" continued late into the night.
Many thanks to the Latvian-Danish Society in Jutland for their great contribution to the strengthening of Latvian traditions in Denmark and for the organization of the celebration.
