In the honor of the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Latvia, the Embassy of Latvia in Denmark, in cooperation with the Central Military Band of the Latvian National Armed Forces and the Band of the Danish Royal Life Guards, will organize a concert on November 29 at the New Stage of the Danish Royal Theatre(Stærekassen). The concert will be the most important celebration of the 100th anniversary of Latvia in Denmark. The event is scheduled a week before the visit of Danish Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary to Latvia in December - as part of the general cultural programme of the visit.

The concert program includes original compositions of both Latvian and Danish classical- and contemporary music composers, as well as arrangements for the wind instrument orchestra. The Chief Conductor of the National Armed Forces Orchestra, Lieutenant Colonel Dainis Vuškāns, and Conductor, Lieutenant Commander Guntis Kumačevs, will conduct musical pieces by Andrejs Jurjāns, Emīls Dārziņš, Gothards Indriķis Helmanis, Jānis Zvaigzne, Raimonds Pauls, Marina Vidmonte and Sergejs Austris Universs. At the end of the concert, the Band of the Royal life Guards, conducted by David Palmqvist, together with the National Armed Forces Orchestra, will play popular Danish and Latvian music.

The concert is part of Latvia’s Centenary programme of public diplomacy, coordinated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia.
