Latvia participates in the First 17+1 Civil Aviation Forum

From 7-8 October 2019, the Ministry of Transport of Latvia participated in the First 17+1 Civil Aviation Forum in Prague, the Czech Republic. The forum was hosted by the Ministry of Transport of the Czech Republic and supported by Civil Aviation Administration of China.

The First 17+1 Civil Aviation Forum brought together government and business representatives from China and Central and Eastern European countries (CEEC) to discuss, promote and enhance cooperation in civil and general aviation.

At the forum, Mr Dins Merirands the Deputy State Secretary of the Ministry of Transport of Latvia shared the view that “direct flight establishment is an important measure that can immediately accelerate tourism activity and transform bilateral and multilateral cooperation dynamics”. Latvia encourages and supports greater connectivity development between China and CEEC.

The 17+1 Civil Aviation Business Forum was organised by the Sino-Czech Aviation Association and focused on topics of general aviation, industrial research and development, aircraft certification, air transport connectivity as well as cooperation in pilot training, operation and service support.

On the sidelines of the 17+1 Civil Aviation Business forum, Latvian delegation met with Mr Cui Xiaofeng, the Deputy Administrator of the Civil Aviation Administration of China. The parties reviewed and appraised the practical progress made in the Sino-Latvian bilateral civil aviation cooperation.

The delegation of Civil Aviation Administration of China was accompanied by a business delegation comprised of 80 aviation enterprises from the People’s Republic of China. Latvian delegation at the First 17+1 Civil Aviation Forum was represented by Mr Dins Merirands, the Deputy State Secretary and Mr Helmuts Kols, the Counsellor of the Ministry of Transport at the Embassy of Latvia to China.
