On 25 January 2007, on the occasion of the 86th anniversary of the international de iure recognition of the Republic of Latvia, also known as the Diplomats' Day, the Latvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs will hold a number of ceremonial events.
At noon, a wreath-laying ceremony will take place at the I and II Meza Kapi Cemeteries at the graves of Zigfrids Anna Meierovics, Janis Cakste, Imants Daudiss, Peteris Vasarins, Dace Krievane, and Maija Aboltina.
At 2.00 pm, an official reception will be held at the Latvian War Museum, during which Foreign Minister Artis Pabriks will present certificates of appreciation to Foreign Ministry staff members and representatives of other institutions in recognition of successful co-operation and their contribution to the strengthening of the Republic of Latvia.
The event will also include the opening of an exhibition on Zigfrids Anna Meierovics – Latvia's First Minister of Foreign Affairs, with an address by the journalist and writer Janis Udris, and the reading of an extract from the book Zigfrida Meierovica tris Annas.
