France's Senate votes for draft law on ratification of EU accession protocols [11 Dec 2003]

On 10 December 2003 the Senate of France approved the draft law on the ratification of EU accession protocols of Latvia and the other nine EU candidate-member states.

Of the 321 senators, 287 voted for the draft law and 1 senator voted against.

As reported before, on 26 November 2003 the draft law was already ratified by the National Assembly of France - the lower chamber of the French Parliament. Thereby the parliamentary part of ratification has been concluded.

President of the Republic of France is expected to sign and promulgate the law on ratification within 15 days.
