U.S. citizens may apply for Latvian government funded scholarships and fellowships to study in Latvia

The Latvian State Education Development Agency has published a call for applications to be granted Latvian government funded scholarships and fellowships to study in Latvia in the 2018-19 academic year. Students, researchers and teaching staff who are citizens of a total of 40 countries are eligible to apply, including the citizens of the United States. The deadline for submitting an application for the scholarships and fellowships for research is April 1, 2018, and for scholarships for summer schools the deadline is May 4, 2018.

Eligible to apply are citizens from countries that have signed an agreement with Latvia on cooperation in the area of education and science: Azerbaijan, Belgium (Federation Wallonia-Brussels), Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Finland, France, Georgia, Israel, Italy, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mexico, Moldova, Mongolia, Peru, Republic of Korea, Spain, Tajikistan, The People’s Republic of China, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan.

Also eligible to apply are citizens from countries that have not signed agreement with Latvia on cooperation in the area of education and science: Austria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Indonesia, Japan, Lithuania, Norway, Slovakia, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United States of America.
