On 2 November, The Embassy of Latvia in Sweden hosted a discussion between Latvian Non-Governmental organisation Providus and Swedish Non-Governmental organisations and journalists. 

Providus' representatives, Lolita Cigane and Valts Kalnins, informed the audience of Providus' role in the supervision of the acquisition and usage of European Union structural funds, as well as their role in the fight against corruption. 

Providus' attempts to resolve current issues in Latvia received appraisal from the representatives from the Swedish Non-Governmental organisations and the journalists present at the seminar. It was suggested that Providus share their experiences with the non-governmental sector in Ukraine and other East European countries. The participants appreciated the possibility to listen to and share their opinions on current issues in Latvia that have often received critical remarks in foreign media. 

Among the participants were journalists from Sweden's largest morning newspaper Dagens Nyheter, the Swedish Radio, journalists from professional journals and representatives from Swedish Non-Governmental organisations.
