The Gustaf Adolf seminar entitled "Sweden in the Baltics – Impressions of the Baltic Sea Empire" was held in honour of the 85th anniversary of the independence of Latvia at the Stockholm Vasa Museum on the 6th of November 2003. The seminar was opened by Mr. Klas Helmerson, director of the Vasa Museum.
Professor Valdis Muktupāvels performed Latvian folk songs demonstrating traiditional folk instruments. Juris Kronbergs, writer, held a lecture: "The Good Old Swedish Times or Myth about Sweden".
This seminar marked the commencement of the celebrations of the 85th anniversary of the independence of Latvia that are planed in many parts of Sweden culminating in a concert performed by soloists of the Latvian National Opera on the 18th of November, the Latvian National Day.
