The Embassy of Latvia in the Republic of Korea, in cooperation with the Latvian Institute and other partners, is organizing the first official visit by media from the Republic of Korea to Latvia from 24 through 30 September. Representatives from ten leading South Korean print media will arrive in Latvia for a six-day visit. Ahead of their departure, members of the delegation were given a special briefing at the Embassy of Latvia in the Republic of Korea.
During the briefing, Ambassador Pēteris Vaivars presented Latvia’s offer and an overview of the history of bilateral relations with the Republic of Korea. The Embassy staff outlined the programme of the media visit. It gives the opportunity for the Korean media to meet public officials, to visit organisations working in culture, science, economy and other fields, and to acquaint themselves with Latvia’s export offer for the South Korean market.
Taking part in the visit to Latvia are representatives from Hankuk Ilbo, The Korea Herald, Yonhap News, Chosun Ilbo, Seoul Shinmun, DongA Ilbo, The Korea Times, Kyunghyang Shinmun, Hankyoreh, and JoongAng Ilbo. The project is undertaken as part of the Public Diplomacy Programme for the centenary of Latvia’s statehood with the aim of introducing the media to Latvia and its achievements so as to build a more active cooperation with the Republic of Korea, notably in the economic sector.
