Relations Between Latvia and Nicaragua [29 Jan 2007]

Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Latvia and Nicaragua were established on 20 June 1994. Nicaragua was one of the first Latin American countries to recognise the renewal of Latvia's independence in 1991. Nicaragua recognised Latvia on 2 September 1991. Latvia maintains diplomatic co-operation with Nicaragua mainly within international organisations. To date Nicaragua has not appointed a diplomatic representative in Latvia, nor has Latvia appointed a diplomatic representative in Nicaragua. 


Latvia and Nicaragua enjoy a visa free regime, thus Latvian citizens may travel to Nicaragua without a visa and stay there for 90 days, and citizens of Nicaragua may stay for the same length of time in Latvia.
