Diplomatic relations
The considerable geographical distance between Latvia and Honduras has hindered the development of active and dynamic relations between the two countries; nevertheless, the countries have potential for co-operation in the areas of culture, science, and trade.
On 1 July 2003, a joint communiqué on the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Latvia and the Republic of Honduras was signed in Tegucigalpa, the capital of Honduras. On behalf of Latvia, the communiqué was signed by Peteris Vaivars, Under-Secretary of State of the Foreign Ministry, and on the Honduran side – by Foreign Minister Guillermo Perez-Cadalso Arias. Latvia and Honduras co-operate within the framework of international organisations.
Latvia and Honduras have also established a mutual visa-free status.

Investment
As of 3 December 2007, no Honduran investment had been made into equity of Latvian-registered companies; no Honduran-Latvian joint ventures hade been listed with the Register of Enterprises of the Republic of Latvia (according to data of the State Enterprise Register available at Lursoft database).
