Cabinet approves Development Cooperation Policy Plan for 2012

On 17 April, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the Development Cooperation Policy Plan for 2012, produced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The amount allocated for the implementation of the plan and carrying out bilateral development cooperation is LVL 50,269.

Latvian Ambassador to Poland Einars Semanis to attend informal meeting of EU development ministers in Sopot

On 14-15 July, the Ambassador of Latvia to Poland, Einars Semanis will represent Latvia at the Informal Meeting of the European Union (EU) Ministers for Development, which takes place in Sopot. During the meeting, the ministers will be informed about the Commission’s proposal on the EU external action instruments within the EU Multiannual Financial Framework after 2013.

Development co-operation policy guidelines for 2011-2015 approved

On 5 July, the Cabinet of Ministers approved a development co-operation policy planning document, "Development Co-operation Policy Guidelines for the Period from 2011 to 2015". The new document lays down goals, tasks and measures in Latvia’s development co-operation policy for the next five years.

Latvia informs about its situation and stand as to EU common targets for development co-operation funding

The Head of the Economic and Bilateral Relations Directorate of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Elita Kuzma represented Latvia at the meeting of European Union ministers for development, held on 24 May within the EU Foreign Affairs Council.

Latvia wishes broader co-operation with African countries

On 20 May, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosts an international discussion forum, African Platform, focusing on the possibilities for the business community and society in general to build closer and broader co-operation between Latvia and the countries of the African continent.
