Secretary of State calls for dynamising economic contacts with Canada [06 Feb 2012]
On 6 February, Secretary of State Andris Teikmanis met with the new Canadian Ambassador John Morrison who had arrived on and introductory visit. Secretary of State Andris Teikmanis and the Ambassador of Canada John Morrison made note of successful bilateral relations as well as close cooperation within NATO and the upcoming Chicago Summit in May this year.
Foreign Minister meets with new Canadian Ambassador to Latvia [30 Jan 2012]
On 30 January, Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkēvičs met with the Ambassador of Canada to Latvia John Morrison, who had arrived on an accreditation visit. The parties recognized the need to dynamise economic relations and commercial contacts. The Canadian Ambassador agreed with the Foreign Minister that concluding a Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) between the European Union and Canada could also have a positive impact on bilateral trade.

On 13 December, Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkēvičs received a farewell visit from the Ambassador of Canada to Latvia Scott Heatherington. On 4 March, the Latvian Embassy in Canada received a visit from students of the Carleton University, who represent Latvia at the NATO simulation game, "Model NATO", organized by the university. Border control on the borders of the Republic of Latvia to be temporarily re-introduced [18 May 2010]
In connection with NATO Parliamentary Assembly spring session in Riga, border control will be temporarily reintroduced to persons entering Latvia from the 24th May up to the 1st of June. In principle, it is dealt with the situation similar to the one before joining the Schengen Convention in 2007. It is important to carry along one's travel document that is required now as well.

On the 9th Saeima elections procedure abroad [06 Sep 2006]
On 7 October 2006, the 9th Saeima (Latvian parliament) elections will be held. Latvia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in conjunction with the Central Election Commission has created 53 polling stations abroad. In 38 of the polling stations it will be possible to file applications for voting by post and also to vote in person, and 15 polling stations will be open on the election day itself from 7 am to 10 pm local time.

Institute of Baltic, Finnish and German Studies officially opens in Stockholm University [06 Apr 2006]
On 6 April 2006, Latvian Ambassador to Sweden Elita Kuzma participated in the official opening ceremony of the Institute for Baltic, Finnish and German Studies at Stockholm University.
