On 2 and 3 June, the Peace Latvian Ev. Lutheran Church and Ottawa Latvian community participated in the Doors Open Ottawa 2018. The two day event offered a rich display of the Latvian culture and history, as well as live music, dance and Latvian cuisine. The event was well attended.
The Peace Latvian Ev.Luth. Church building at 83 Main Street (corner of Lees Avenue and Main Street) was built in early 20th century by architect W.C. Beattie. The Peace Latvian Ev.-Luth. Church acquired the building in September 1982. The main floor of the building serves as the Church Hall and the lower level serves as a Latvian Community Centre.
The event was supported by the Embassy of Latvia in Canada and devoted to the Centennial of the Republic of Latvia.
